Do you know your email address?

Apparently some people don’t. A Beverly, a Brittany and an Elizabeth (Beth) Woodruff keep signing up for things, telling their friends, and even buying things with my email address. I could understand and by sympathetic if this were a one-off typo, but for me to continue getting your family newsletter from Aunt Rita and your Collective Soul tickets from Ticketmaster….

So far I’ve tried to be nice and alert the senders that I’m not Beverly / Brittany / Beth and asking them to please get in touch with them to get the correct email address. Next time I think I’ll be going to a free Collective Souls concert.

P.S. Yes, I did take into consideration that these could be spam messages, but they are not. Ticketmaster did indeed have a Collective Souls ticket order from my email address. In fact, they almost didn’t believe that it wasn’t me who ordered the tickets. “Well sir, how did we get your email address then?” and “Can you provide the address of the card holder?” were frustrating to say the least. Ticketmaster customer support was terrible. They simply did not comprehend that someone could have typed in their email address incorrectly. Next time I’m just using the tickets.

Have you ever had someone mistakenly use your email address? Did you take the time to investigate and try to notify them?

  1. I would of just keep marking the emails as spam. I would be to lazy to track down who they were for. Then again I mark a lot of email as spam. Really helps stop the stupid chain mail.
