Update: Had a meeting today with the powers that be and it was decided that I could use our “VM Box” (an XP machine that is running VMWare Server) to setup a Linux virtual machine and install Bugzilla. They seemed unconvinced that it would work for us.
Well… they’re right.
It’s not going to do what they want. But they want a system that will do EVERYTHING. Calendaring / scheduling, task management, job tracking, job assignment and reporting, time tracking, be a full PO system, and they’d like it to interface with QuickBooks and Outlook.
If you can find me a system like that for less than $XXXX… then…
Anyway, I get to load up Bugzilla. Apparently it hates Windows (can’t argue with it there), so it’s gotta be in a Linux VM.
Next step is to create checklists that we want technicians to go through when doing daily/weekly/monthly/etc monitoring of our / customer networks.
